11th Annual Fill the Fire Truck Toy Drive
presented by the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation & our newest partner, the United Citizens Foundation
Each year the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation sponsors the “Fill the Fire Truck” Holiday Toy Drive, in which we work in conjunction with the Las Vegas community and local Walmart locations to collect toys and gift cards for underprivileged children. The 5 valley Fire Departments have assisted the Burn Foundation every year since 2003. In 2012, the charity organization collected toys and gift cards for over 15,000 kids in Southern Nevada.
Historically, the collection is held for the first four weekends in December and begins on Black Friday. Since 2005, there are approximately 30 - 50 organizations throughout the community and as far as Reno, Mesquite, and Pahrump, that provide documentation as to their non-profit status and in good standing, as well as the agreement that
these gifts are for the needy children within their organizations only. It is stressed, that these gifts are for those whom they know are not receiving services from another organization and that will not be able to provide any gifts for the holiday season.
We also provide gifts for the schools that have some of the highest rates of homeless children and on the Clark County Focus School Program. The Burn Foundation has worked closely with the groups and organizations to ensure the toys are distributed fairly and evenly.
We are grateful to have the opportunity to serve the Las Vegas community and we look forward to the 2013 holiday season.
