The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation are happy to announce the “Fight to Fire Cancer” fundraiser to be held from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on July 31st, 2010 at the Children's Center for Cancer & Blood Diseases of Las Vegas.

We are holding this fundraising event to
support the Children's Center for Cancer &
Blood Diseases of Las Vegas. The clinic
was established in September of 2006 by
Dr. Jonathan Bernstein with the goal of
creating Nevada's first non-profit,
multi-disciplinary childhood cancer center;
where children can not only receive
medical care but also have access to
clinical trials regardless of their parents’
ability to pay for services. Some event
proceeds will be allocated to the Burn
Foundation so that it may continue helping
the community with future events and fundraisers.

The Burn Foundation is reaching out to you to help us to accomplish our goal of collecting funding to support children with cancer and blood disease at the Children’s Center. Children are unique individuals with their own specialized needs. Never is this more evident than when a child needs health care—whether it is highly specialized chemotherapy to treat a pediatric malignancy, a simple blood test to diagnose a bleeding disorder, an immunization, or preventative care. Your kind consideration will greatly help the children and their family members.

The event will raise money through sponsorship, pledges, and funds personally donated by the firefighters. All proceeds from this event will go towards the Children’s Center and the Burn Foundation’s Services Division. On the day of event, we will be providing foods such as sandwiches, finger foods, and beverages for attendees. Also, we will have fun activities such as video game tournaments and fire truck tours.

This is a closed event to the general public for safety reasons for the children

During the “Fight to Fire Cancer,” teams
will be composed of a firefighter paired
with a child that is a patient at the clinic
competing together in a bracket against
other teams. The children will receive
prizes along the way for competing. All
clinic patients that attend the event but
are not competing in the tournament
will have the opportunity to play games
and tour fire trucks. For the video game
tournaments, each child will be paired
with a firefighter as one team to participate
in games, and small prizes will be provided for the children as well.

We look forward to making unforgettable memories with the children and their families along with the other attendees in order to help the children overcome their hardship and have hope for a bright future.
